How it works
Available to Plymouth, West Devon and East Cornwall residents.
We will ask you some questions online and send a test kit to you.
You take your own samples and post them back to us for testing (postage paid). Tests are run through the same lab as clinic tests.
How to take samples
Chlamydia and gonorrhoea testing
For HIV and syphilis testing, you collect your own blood sample after pricking your finger with a sterile lancet (provided).
When to test
STIs may not show up on tests straight away after sex – this delay is known as the ‘window period’:
– for chlamydia and gonorrhoea, the window period is 2 weeks
(please note the chlamydia test can remain ‘positive’ for 6 weeks after treatment, even though the infection has cleared. Do not re-test within this 6 week period)
Getting your results
If your test results are ‘negative’ (all clear), we will let you know by text message (SMS), usually within 10 working days. We send this text once all your tests are back.
If tests are ‘positive’ (meaning you have an STI), we will contact you by phone. We will never text a positive result to you.
Sometimes we may be unable to test a blood sample because it is more than 4 days old when it reaches our lab, or tube is not filled to the top. If this happens, we will send you a text message that specifies each STI by name. An example of this text would be ‘Your online test results are negative (all clear) for chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis. Unfortunately, there was not enough blood to test for HIV, so no result is available. Please visit us in
Please do not order a kit if you are planning to visit us in
Please do not order a kit earlier than a week before you need to test – it will be flagged as a ‘non-return’.
Your kit is linked to you by barcode, do not use someone else’s kit.
