If you are taking a blood sample:
Taking blood from a fingerprick can be daunting for many people.
We need the small blood tube filled right to the top, or it will be insufficient to test. Our blood taking guide will help you get enough blood in the tube. The blood sample must reach us within 3 days of being taken.
Top tips to encourage blood flow:
- Drink plenty of water beforehand (30 mins)
- Do 5 minutes upper body exercise before
- Place your hands in warm water for 2 minutes before
If you are under 16 years old, we are unable to post a kit to you.
We prefer to meet you in person to find out how we can help.
We will send you a text message with a number to call if you would like to talk to us.
Alternatively, call us on 01752 431124 to book an appointment, come to a ‘walk-in and wait‘ clinic or visit the Zone.
A reminder about results
If your test results are ‘negative’ (all clear), we will let you know by text message (SMS), usually within 10 working days. We send this text once all your tests are back.
If tests are ‘positive’ (meaning you have an STI), we will contact you by phone. We will never text a positive result to you.
Sometimes we may be unable to test a blood sample because it is more than 3 days old when it reaches our lab, or tube is not filled to the top. If this happens, we will send you a text message that specifies each STI by name. An example of this text would be ‘Your online test results are negative (all clear) for chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis. Unfortunately, there was not enough blood to test for HIV, so no result is available. Please visit us in
